Case Study House #30 references a project set forth by Arts & Architecture Magazine in the mid-1950’s to early 1960’s. The aim was for leading architects to create innovative designs that would embrace style and economy by utilizing post-war technology. Several homes, especially those built in California’s glamorous sections of Brentwood and Bel Air, stretch these “achievable ideals” to even greater lengths. Case Study House #30, an imagined extension of this project, brings these ideas into the post-recession 21st century where they remain particularly relevant.
