Newest Topographics references a group of artists called the New Topographics, who sought to criticize the monotony of vast Levittown-like housing developments in the 1950’s and 1960’s by capturing them through aerial photography. Newest Topographics embraces these sentiments by taking the opposite approach; Instead of overlooking buildings embedded in the environment, the viewer is situated within a structure overlooking a largely untouched landscape. This also raises issues of design as it relates to both individuality and exclusivity.
