Lindsey Kocur’s artworks synthesize encounters with the built environment and explore its relationship to the natural world. Abstractions of human-made structures and objects coalesce with diverse landscapes and organic forms. Tactile materials, often from the land in the form of sand, wood, rock, and earth, combine with paint to infuse each piece with rich texture and direct links to specific places. Moments of authenticity give way to fantastical structures, seeking to capture qualities of our spaces in implausible and often impossible ways.
