Green Space brings new perspectives to the two-dimensional artworks by transforming the gallery architecture into a painting. Sections of flat color emphasize the recessed structures and depth of the window. Preserved vegetation within The Fens, part of the Emerald Necklace network of Boston parks and green spaces, is visible through the window. Within the gallery, live, non-native plants are included both for their semi-artificial appearance and ability to exist in a controlled, interior environment. Each plant is also enclosed within its own protective glass sphere, emphasizing efforts to actively cultivate and protect plant life, both indoors and outside.
